Smadav 2026 Revision 15.9 is an antivirus program for Windows developed in Indonesia by Zainuddin Nafarin. It is light, free and focused on threats that travel on USB flash drives, and it is typically run alongside a main antivirus rather than instead of one. You can download Smadav for Windows from the developer's site, smadav.net.
Smadav makes the most sense on computers that see a lot of removable media: PCs in schools, copy shops, internet cafés and small offices where people plug in flash drives from many different sources. Malware that hides files on a stick and replaces them with shortcuts, or that copies itself to every drive it can find, has long been a problem in such places, and Smadav was built with exactly that in mind. It scans a drive when it is connected, helps bring back files that malware has hidden and keeps its own footprint small, so it also runs on older and slower PCs. Home users who share files by USB with classmates or colleagues can benefit too. If you never use removable drives and already rely on a full security suite, Smadav adds little. It is not a replacement for Microsoft Defender or another complete antivirus with web and email protection; think of it as an additional layer.
